OSCILLOSCOPES FROM A TO Z In this class you will be instructed on the use of automotive oscilloscopes; from the basics of how oscilloscopes work to very advanced diagnostic strategies. In order to understand electronic circuits you must first understand the relationship between the electronic devices. The oscilloscope is the technician's window into this world of waveform relationships. This course will start with how the waveform is created. New and practical techniques for analyzing waveforms will be presented. We will then move to the interaction of waveforms and how to determine where the failure is located. This course will include live waveforms from an engine simulator so you will be able to understand what the scope display is actually showing you and how to identify the system's failure. You will then move to real world case studies that are explained in detail so you will be able to use this information in the service bay for faster diagnostics of modern vehicles.
Diagnose This! This class will focus on 10 of the top case studies I have collected in the field . They will cover different operating systems of the vehicle and not just on one subject. These case studies will consist of issues with:
With the introduction of as many as 60+ controllers on today's vehicles it is important for this class to give students a wide spectrum of problems on a vehicle to help them better understand that a good diagnostic game plan can be applied to each and every system by simply knowing and understanding the foundation of on-board computers. Each case study will provide a strategy of approach to resolve each issue and will be coupled with theory of operation to help the students better understand how a system works when building a plan of attack. This is not a Tip & Tricks class but more of a class on how did I get there. I will focus on ways to utilizes different types of equipment in your shop to test and probe vehicles as well as introduce newer test equipment that may help you better expertite the diagnostic process. If you eat, drink and sleep diagnostics then this is a class for you! Snap-on Handheld Diagnostics
Featuring Software Bundle 11.2
This seminar will highlight the changes and improvements to the Snap-on diagnostic suite of tools, Solus, MODIS, VERUS and Verdict. The presentation will show the changes made to data viewing, demonstrate the function of data capture and transfer to a PC for analysis using Snap-on's Shop Stream Connect software, and feature many of the enhancements to Bundle 11.2 software such as EVAP system testing and TPMS functions. Many case studies will be shown to illustrate the topics presented. This is not a buttonology class, this class is about getting the most from these diagnostic platforms. The use of current probes and pressure transducers will be covered to perform advanced vehicle testing. Using Ross-Tech VCDS (VAG-COM Diagnostic System) on VWs Having a low cost, but powerful scan tool makes diagnosing and servicing VW's and Audi's much easier. This class will discuss the numerous functions one can perform on a VW/Audi using VCDS. Some of the topics to be covered include the following:
The goal of this class is to make the attending technician comfortable performing common VW/Audi tasks with VCDS.
A detailed handout will be provided.
